Room- carpet was coming up and we could feel the staples under our feet, room was old and showing it. But the bed was really comfortable. Housekeeping- had to call every day because they didn't give us something. 3rd day didn't give us hand towels or washcloths so I called down to the front desk. When the woman came she only had 3 washcloths so I asked her for one more since there were 4 of us. She was clearly irritated and told me that she wasn't sure she could do that. Pool area- it was a rare sight to see the guy working the desk at the pool area. If you are tired of waiting you can get towels at the front desk. Don't waste your money renting their beach umbrella. It's $8/day for a flimsy beach umbrella and 2 chairs. It was fine in the morning but the wind in the afternoon was too much for the umbrella. The lifeguards have them for $30/day. Breakfast- it's only free for 2 people per room and it's at a restaurant, not at the hotel. The food was okay, but it was just irritating because we thought we all ate breakfast for free, but we had to pay for our 2 kids to eat. On a positive note, the water park is fun and you do get that for free. If you want to do the racetrack or the bumper boats it's extra, but we were fine without those. It's about a 20 minute drive without traffic, but they have a shuttle that goes out there. If you want to do that, make sure you get the schedule.

We stayed at the Carolinian for a week. The unloading area is small out front but they all are on the strip because the hotel sites are narrow so that wasn't an issue. Parking garage was a short walk across the street and had plenty of room. The elevator was a little wobbly and maybe needs replacing but we never got stuck. The room was very clean. We were in the older section but we had no problem. The furniture was very nice, the bed was quite comfy and the pillows actually were pretty good. I usually bring my own pillow because hotel pillows are so pathetic but there weren't bad at all. The oceanfront view was fabulous. My only complaints would be it would be nice if they had vending on more than just the 3rd floor (we were on 9) and they would do well to clear a space at the top of the tower and put in a nice oceanview bar. Other than that we were very happy with it. As for restaurants, we can recommend Uncle John's for breakfast. Best bacon ever and it is just a few hundred yards from the parking garage so well within walking distance. I had sushi from two different places. Kono, whic is right around the corner, I was not impressed with at all. King Kong Sushi was wonderful. We also ate at Greg Norman's Australian Grill which is in Barefoot Landing which was fantastic. Shopping areas were great. Boardwalk at the Beach and Barefoot Landing were really nice areas to shop. All in all a very nice week in Myrtle Beach!

Got upgraded to a room with a balcony on the beach. Beds are soooo comfy! Room was roomy and clean. Nice areas to lay out and relax around the pool and on grassy area. Very close to Broadway at the Beach!

Nothing wrong with our stay at the Carolinian, but nothing remarkable either. The view was great, the room was clean and the staff was nice. Decor was dated, beds not very comfortable though, and the elevator was sub-par. Cabinetry was in poor repair and a piece fell off during the night startling us awake. Overall it was just OK
